The City of Gilroy is getting ready to start construction on the Gourmet Alley Project, providing infrastructure and aesthetic improvements to the alley south of 4th Street. The project will begin in April and is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.
Improvements scheduled for Gourmet Alley include resurfacing, new trash enclosures and receptacles, new signage, additional lighting, new benches, new landscaping, and resurfaced and restriped parking lots.
A community meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 5:30 PM to provide an overview of the improvements, construction activities, and project schedule.

A Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held to celebrate the start of construction on Friday, April 5, at 9:00 AM in Gourmet Alley between 5th and 6th Street. The ceremony will include a short speech by the Mayor and an opportunity for photos.
During construction:
Gourmet Alley will be closed south of 4th Street to all pedestrian & vehicle traffic for the duration of project construction. Businesses and residents should make arrangements to receive deliveries on Monterey Road throughout the duration of project construction. Additionally, pedestrians should use alternate routes, including using sidewalks, to access Monterey Road.
The public parking lots on Eigleberry between 4th and 6th Streets will be closed for the duration of project construction. Alternate parking will be available at the Downtown Gourmet Parking Lot, located at 7th and Eigleberry Streets, and at the Railroad Parking Lot, located at 6th and Railroad Streets.
